Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon has employed one other senior govt from the know-how sector.

The funding financial institution is including Alphabet’s Jared Cohen, a protege of former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and founding father of Jigsaw, an incubator on the tech big, to assist begin a new innovation group, Solomon stated Tuesday in a memo obtained by CNBC.

It’s the most recent step Solomon has taken to inject a know-how focus into the 153-year-old funding financial institution. The group, known as the workplace of utilized innovation, can be lead by Cohen and co-chief data officer George Lee. In 2019, Solomon employed former Amazon Web Services govt Marco Argenti as co-chief data officer.

“Working closely with leaders across Goldman Sachs, George and Jared will specifically identify and advance commercial opportunities for the firm that are at the intersection of a changing global marketplace, shifts in the geopolitical landscape and rapidly evolving technology,” Solomon stated. Both of the boys will report on to him, Solomon added.

Cohen is becoming a member of New York-based Goldman at its senior-most rank: He’ll be a associate and administration committee member and also will function president of worldwide affairs, Solomon stated.

The strikes depart Argenti as sole chief data officer beginning in October, he added.
